Plasencia by Alma Fuerte

Sometimes you just have to treat yourself and make that premium purchase. It’s no different when it comes to cigars. This week’s cigar, the #Plasencia by @AlmaFuerte, could be seen as the equivalent to the Range Rover in style…..and price. And for a debut, they did not hold back. The entire cigar is made up of Aged Nicaraguan tobacco grown in various regions of the country.

Initial light and first 3rd:

The deep chocolate stick had a standard draw and only took two to three pulls to fully light. It took another six or seven draws before I began to really get some noticeable flavor from the cigar. However, when it came on….it was as expected; an elegant medium to full body punch with heavy pepper and a bite of Cocoa dark chocolate (bitter not sweet). So it’s kind of complex at this point because the bitterness is not something that I’m keen to but I do love a peppery, spicy cigar with a neat finish

Second 3rd:

The flavor, like the ash, is steadfast. I’m still picking up the same notes that I did near the end of the first 3rd. I’m guessing it’s made to be a steady, long burning cigar. I can see someone picking this as a go-to stick because of Plasencia’s ability to make a thorough cigar that delivers the fullness that’s expected from an all Nicaraguan cigar but I can also understand those that may not be knocked off their feet from the cigar’s subtle delivery of flavor. I will note that the dark cocoa turns into a creamy, espresso flavor as I’m wrapping up the end of the 3rd of the cigar.

Last 3rd:

The cigar begins to burn with a little bit more intensity and boldness. The good thing here is that it’s joined with a pinch of sweetness. The newly introduced sweetness helps maintain its medium to full body. It is not something that just jumps out at you but is appreciated as a change in profile. In summary, I can’t doubt that this is a great stick and should be highly rated but I don’t know if it justified the price tag. Upwards of $21+ per stick, it has stiff competition from cigars almost half its price.
